LAHORE - Malik Sikander Advocate, JUI-F Chief Election Commissioner, intra-party polls has announced the schedule for the intra-party polls and stated that elections in all the four provinces would be held from June 19 to June 26, while the date for central party offices would be announced after Eid-ul-Fitr.
Addressing a Press conference at party office on Wednesday, he announced that intra-party polls in Balochistan would be held on June 19, Punjab, June 21, Sindh, June 23 and Khyber Pukhtunkhwa June 26. He said that the process of reorganisation of the party had been completed and now the process of recollection and compilation of membership forms was underway.
He said that the party membership had swelled from 1.5 million to 2 million during the present membership drive, which was a healthy sign for the party under the prevailing circumstances for the religious parties. Earlier, talking to the media after a breakfast meeting at provincial party leader, Hafiz Abubakar Chaudhry’s residence, he alleged that Prime Minister was playing into the hands of anti-peace forces.
He observed that peace negotiations with Pakistani Taliban would have been definitely successful if government had held them in the light of the formula evolved by the grand Jirga of all tribal heads of FATA region held under the patronisation of JUI-F chief.
He said that Nawaz Sharif lost a golden chance of striking peace accord with the tribal chiefs since the decisions of grand Jirga would have been binding on all the tribesmen of FATA.
Sikander said that despite being ally in coalition government, JUI-F was not taken into confidence regarding tabling the controversial Protection of Pakistan Bill, which usurped the fundamental rights of the people.
