OUR SRAFF REPORTER LAHORE Lahore Tax Bar Association (LTBA) President Iftikhar Shabbir Syed has strongly opposed the proposed STR-7 sales tax and the federal excise return. He said this during a meeting here in the tax bar on Tuesday. He said the return form was actually not a return rather it seemed to be a documentation of economy or a survey form. Moreover, he said, it was not practical to obtain CNIC as per Annexure A and C proposed in the STR-7 sales tax and the federal excise return. Introduction of Annexure F, G and H is nothing more than wastage of time. Beside, it will also take couple of hours to complete a single return, he added. It seemed the FBR wanted to upset the tax payers and the legal fraternity, he further added. The president demanded to withdraw the new draft and to restore the existing sales tax return forms as early as possible.
