Britain-esque training institution introduced


LAHORE – Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday said that his government has decided to set up an autonomous institution — Youth Skills Punjab — for technical training of the youth. This institution, said the chief minister, will impart modern training to the men and women between the ages of 16 and 30 years, according to the market needs. Rs 250 million seed money has been released for this purpose, Sharif added.
Presided a high-level meeting, the chief minister said the YSP, to be set up on the pattern of the Department for International Development of the UK, will impart training on modern lines in different skills. He said that provision of modern educational and training facilities is being ensured with the technical consultation and collaboration of Turkey so that the youth could explore new avenues of progress through their knowledge and skill.
Shahbaz Sharif said the board of directors of the YSP would comprise 15 members, who will be selected from different sectors. He said he will be the chairman of the institution
Earlier, Chairman Punjab Vocational Training Council, Faisal Ijaz Khan gave a briefing to him regarding the Youth Skills Punjab. Those participated in it included Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and attended by MPA Hafiz Mian Nauman, Chairman Punjab Vocational Training Council, Chief Executive Punjab Employees Opportunity Programme, provincial secretaries of Industries, Law, Finance and Planning & Development departments and Tevta chairman.
