LAHORE  - Jamaat e Islami chief Syed Munawar Hasan has said that nobody could change the Islamic identity of Pakistan in the past nor would any one be able to do that in the future. Pakistan came into being in the name of Islam and it would exist and flourish with the same, he added while addressing the JI central workshop for party workers at Mansoora.
The JI chief said that the Islamic Shariah consisted of the injunctions of the Almighty and the Holy Prophet (PBUH) which could not be altered on someone’s wishes. It was most shameful to term hooliganism as Shariah, he added.
He said the enemy was making every effort to divide the Pakistani nation to create anarchy and disruption. Therefore, all views and ideas in conflict with Islam should be given up in order to forge national cohesion and unity of the Ummah, he said. The JI chief was confident that the nefarious designs of the forces opposing dialogue with the Taliban won’t succeed. However, he said, the citizens should be vigilant of the conspiracies of the enemies of Islam and Pakistan and play their role to foil these.
Munawar said that the US dream to establish its supremacy in the world by force had been shattered due to the US and NATO forces’ humiliating defeat in Afghanistan. In such a situation, Pakistan must take China into confidence and seek its cooperation for the restoration of peace in the region.
He said that the anti-talks lobby had been expecting that the talks would fail after which military operation would begin to advance their agenda. During the last twelve years, he said, the US and its allies had been pressing Islamabad to ‘Do More’ and the American agents here were  repeating the same demand even now so that Pakistan could remain in turmoil and hatred was created between the people and the armed forces. However, he said, with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s wise decision to give preference to talks, the mischief mongers were having sleepless nights and they were still busy in spreading rumors in order to create confusion and obstruct the talks’ process. In such a situation, he said, the nation should demonstrate that it fully stood behind the negotiating committees so that the government could advance the talks without any pressure.
The JI chief expressed the hope that the armed forces and the government would agree to stop military action in the tribal areas and the Taliban too would refrain from any such activity. Both the sides should create an atmosphere of peace on all fronts and the opponents should also stop talking of the use of force and term dialogue as the only way out.
He said the elements desiring chaos and disruption would not miss any opportunity to sabotage the talks. Therefore, instead of holding the Taliban responsible for all terrorist activities, the government should keep an eye on the entire situation so that the enemy could not carry out any big activity, he said. He the two sides should work with great care and patience to restore peace and stability.
