PML-Q, AML warn govt against sabotaging march

LAHORE - The leaders of the opposition parties trying to bring all the anti-government forces to a single platform said on Wednesday that “Azadi March” would be held in a peaceful manner and warned the rulers of serious consequences if it made any bid to sabotage the march.
Awami Muslim League chief (AML), Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and PML-Q Punjab President Ch Pervaiz Elahi expressed these views while talking to media persons at Minhaj-ul-Quran Secretariat after a meeting with PAT Chief Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri in connection with formation of a larger anti-government alliance.  They warned the government against making August 14 controversial by using the sacred day to achieve political targets against the opposition.
They asked the government to assign reasons for not registering an FIR against the real culprits of the Model Town tragedy.
They said the opposition parties intended to launch the protest drive in a peaceful manner and warned the government against making any attempt to sabotage the peaceful movement.
They said the date for dethroning the failed rulers would be announced soon as all the matters had been finalised with Dr Qadri and final round would be held after Eid.
The PML-Q and AML leaders said the Pak Army was the defender of the entire nation while the institution didn’t serve the PML-N government only.
They alleged the government was making a nefarious bid to use the armed forces for achieving political goals by planning a parade on August 14, while there was no such past example.
Meanwhile, the PAT leaders would hold a rally on The Mall today (Thursday) against the non-registration of an FIR on the Minhaj director’s application submitted to the Faisal Town police station after the Model Town incident.
The protest rally would also be attended by a PML-Q delegation and other likeminded parties of PAT.
ASIF, ABID SHER ALI MUST RESIGN: PTI
PTI Punjab General Secretary, Dr Yasmin Rashid on Wednesday demanded of the Federal Minister Water and Power, Kh Asif and State Minister, Abid Sher Ali to resign after accepting their failure to control the loadshedding to a reasonable limit.
In a Press statement, Dr Yasmin said that when the Ministers of Water and Power accept their failure to control the loadshedding in the month of Ramazan and ask the masses to pray for rainfall for the cut in the time-period of loadshedding then there was no justification for them to stay in their offices. She said that Kh Asif Press conference the other day established the fact that government had also used huge public funds on the advertisement of fake energy projects, as they exist only in the advertisements.
She demanded that the Prime Minister should remove these two Ministers, as they have themselves admitted to newsmen that they could not do anything to control the loadshedding even in the month of Ramazan.
