PDA to protest against Dr Ayaz's disappearance

LAHORE - Pakistan Dental Association (PDA) will observe academic boycott in all 26 dental colleges of Pakistan and stage a countrywide protest in all dental institutes today (Monday) against the disappearance of Prof Dr Ayyaz Ali Khan in UAE. The association will also hold a protest rally in front of Governors House at The Mall at 3:00 pm on the same day. Faculty members and dental students of all dental colleges of City will participate in the protest. The participants of the demonstration would handover a Memorandum to the Governor Punjab to be forwarded to the President of Pakistan for the recovery of Dr Ayyaz from UAE. Prof Dr Ayaz Ali Khan is a renowned dental scholar who is supervising PhD/MPhil students and he also has remained National Coordinator for World Health Organisation (WHO) and has been missing for the last one month at Ras-ul-Khaymah, UAE. Prof Ayyaz Khan was working at Ras-ul-Khaymah dental college as consultant of Riphah University Islamabad. PDA has the information that the Pakistani doctor is in the custody of UAE intelligence agencies for the unexplained reasons. The matter is of deep concern that UAE government is not ready to give access to the family members of the missing doctor. The family and dental community are also concerned about the status and condition of Dr Ayaz Ali Khan. PDA is determined to continue protest country-wide for an early release of the missing Pakistani doctor.
