LAHORE - District Coordination Officer Sajjad Ahmed Bhutta has called explanation from price magistrates for submitting incorrect figures and bogus reports of fines. Presiding over a meeting of administrators, TMOs and TROs regarding Ramazan bazaars held here on Tuesday, he issued last warning to the price magistrates for misconduct on their part and directed them to take stern action against the shopkeepers for overcharging and submit accurate figures of challans and fines on daily basis. He said that artificial price-hike and hoarding would not be tolerated and those shopkeepers violating the instructions and price lists must be brought to book. He said that Sasta Ramazan bazaars had been set up for facilitating the middle class so it must be benefited. In case of any complaint from any town in this regard, the administrator concerned would be considered incapable, he added. The DCO informed the meeting that about 69 price magistrates had been deputed in nine towns of the City in order to monitor prices with ensuring provision of quality products in Ramazan bazaars and checking sale of rotten fruits and vegetables. He further directed them to ensure supply of subsidised flour and sugar in all the open markets, fair price shops and Ramazan bazaars with keeping complete record of quantity of flour. He also issued direction that display of rate lists was essential for all the shopkeepers, pushcart and handcart traders selling daily use commodities.
