'Nizami true custodian of Iqbal's thoughts'

LAHORE - The fifty years services of Chairman Nazria Pakistan Trust (NPT) and Editor-in-Chief The Nation Majid Nizami was applauded at a meeting of Hameed Nizami Memorial Society on Wednesday. Col (r) Amjad Hussain presided over the ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, Col (r) Amjad Hussain said Majid Nizami as a true custodian of the mission of Hameed Nizami upheld the flag of jehad against the oppressor rulers, dictators and those who tried to shift Pakistan from its foundations. He said before the death of Hameed Nizami, Majid Nizami came back from London on which Hameed Nizami expressed his satisfaction. He said Majid Nizami continued his mission what he pledged to the soul of his illustrious brother. The way he stood against oppressors and informed the younger generation about Pakistan ideology was not less than a miracle, he added. He was custodian of the thoughts of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal. He remained undaunted despite three by-pass operation and closure of Nawa-i-Waqt advertisements from time to time, he further said. Inspite of his coveted position and towering personality, Majid Nizami is a very humble and kind person and never indulged in pride, he remarked. He said Pakistan is will of Allah and it will remain in tact. Col (r) Amjad also advised Waleed Iqbal to follow the footprints of his illustrious grand father Allama Iqbal and show courage against the tyrants. Speaking on the occasion, Editor-in-Chief The Nation Majid Nizami said Nawa-i-Waqt was published on Litho in six pages in 1962 when his brother Hameed Nizami expired. He said it had large circulation due to its policy but we had to take newsprint on loan. After the death of Hameed Nizami, the then Governor Punjab Nawab Amir Mohammad Khan came to offer fateha and later called him at Governor House where he said I should continue the policies of Hameed Nizami daringly, he maintained. He said now Nawa-i-Waqt had four editions, The Nation had three. It had offices in every City and was under a Trust and would continue to follow its policy, he further added. Speaking on the occasion, Justice (r) Mian Mahboob Ahmad said persons like Hameed Nizami were born in centuries. Dr Rafique Ahmad, Justice (r) Sardar Mohammad Dogar, Brig (r) Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry, Justice (r) Aftab Farrukh, Dr MA Soofi, Rafique Alam, Col Ikramullah, Begum Surraya Khurshid and Prof Muzaffar Mirza also addressed.
