'Teach Excel' workshop concludes at LUMS

LAHORE - Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCCA) Pakistan organised two-day 'Teach Excel' workshop at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), which concluded on Thursday. The workshop was the part of ACCA's efforts to develop excellence in professional accounting education and establish best practices amongst tertiary accounting education providers. Punjab Minister for Population Welfare Neelam Jabbar who was the chief guest on the closing ceremony of the workshop distributed certificates among the participants. William Parrott of KAPLAN Financial who is an experienced ACCA tutor was main tutor, besides Alan Hatfield and Jonathan Mbewe. The workshop participants included faculty members of ACCA Approved Learning Partners in Pakistan. The participants appreciated ACCA's initiative efforts in enhancing the capacity of professional accounting education faculty members. They opined that the workshop was useful and relevant to their work as it enabled them to learn new teaching skills, adding that the workshop had energised them and they were motivated to improve their performance. On the occasion, Arif Masud Mirza, Head of ACCA Pakistan said Teach Excel was manifestation of ACCA Pakistan's commitment to faculty development of professional accounting education tuition providers. "Our students have demonstrated ability and potential to be world class professional accountants. Through initiatives like 'Teach Excel', we were facilitating ACCA tutors to help young generation of Pakistan in pursuing their ambition of a successful career in finance, accounting and taxation," Mirza said.   Neelam Jabbar commended ACCA for arranging the event, adding that teachers can play an important role in producing professional accountants of high calibre to meet global challenges. "Such kind of training workshops should become a regular feature," she suggested.  At the conclusion of the ceremony, shields and certificates were distributed amongst the workshop leaders by Arif Masud Mirza. It may be mentioned here that ACCA is the global body for professional accountants, which aims to offer business-relevant, first-choice qualifications to people of application, ability and ambition around the world who seek a challenging career in accountancy, finance and management. ACCA supports 122,000 members and 325,000 students throughout their careers, providing services through a network of 80 offices and centres. Protection of Two-Nation theory urged Ameer Jamia Zeenatul Quran, Baghbanpura, Allama Ghulam Asghar Siddique has said all that all madaris across the country were the centres of ideology of Pakistan. Addressing a ceremony held by mobile ideological educational unit of Pakistan Aghi Programme of the Nazaria Pakistan Trust here on Thursday, Ghulam Asghar said, "Nazaria Pakistan Trust has reminded the religious scholars to fulfil their responsibility of spreading two-nation theory amongst masses. It was right time to spread the message as electronic media was trying to erase the two-nation theory from people's minds and damaging Pakistan's foundations by infusing modern ideas," he added. He said that women had also taken active part in Pakistan Movement. "It would be very beneficial for the country if they again participate in spreading the message of two-nation theory and counter the enemy's vicious propaganda," Siddique said.
