Sohail to decide on his future in PCB in next few days

LAHORE - Pakistan's former Test captain Aamir Sohail has said he would decide on his future in the Cricket Board in next few days after strong rumours about his resignation as director game development. Many television channels carried stories of Sohail having resigned from his position in the Board but the former Test opener denied having taken any such decision. "No I have not resigned as yet and if I do this I will inform the media. But yes I will take a decision on my future in the board in the next few days," he admitted. Sohail's frank assertion that he was rethinking his future in the Board comes amidst rumours that the former opener was frustrated at not being allowed to implement his plans as Director game development and head of the national cricket academy in Lahore. Sources in the Board have said in the past few months, Sohail had got frustrated as several of his suggestions and plans had been sidelined by Chairman Ejaz Butt and other senior officials including the chief operating officer and the Director Human Resources. "No he is not happy at all and apparently Sohail has spoken to an influential personality close to Butt who in the first place had brought him into the Board," one source said. He said the word was that Sohail had forwarded his resignation to this influential person. Sohail would not be the first former test captain to resign from the board under the Chairman of Butt. In the past another former test captain, Javed Miandad also had differences with other senior officials and had resigned before government pressure forced Butt to reinstate him as director general cricket affairs on a higher salary and better perks.
