Wah witnesses crime surge


WAH CANTT  -  Consecutive incidents of robberies and thefts during the last two weeks within the precincts of Wah Police Station have spread a sense of insecurity among masses as well as traders of the area.
The failure of police to arrest the robbers is giving rise to sense of insecurity and harassment among the residents and traders, it has been learnt. A large number of people have been deprived of cash, gold ornaments and other valuables at gunpoint during the last two weeks while police seem in deep slumber and are looking the lawlessness as idle spectators due to the reasons best known to them.
In one of recent robbery incidents, one Asim Hussain was critically injured on offering resistance to three robbers who deprived him of cash and other valuables.
In another incident, robbers deprived one Nusrat Mehmood in Model Town area of cash and other valuables.
Police also failed to get clue of the robbers involved in bloody dacoity incident at a bakery in which a cashier was shot dead and guard was critically injured on resistance. According to details, a trader was shot dead and his security guard was critically injured as armed robbers opened indiscriminate firing during a bloody robbery incident at a bakery located near Chachi Mohallah on GT Road in limits of Wah Saddar Police Station.
Likewise, five dacoits entered the house of Murad Ali in Mazar Colony and made hostage the family at gunpoint and closed them in a room. The masked dacoits completely searched the house and took away 20-tola gold, cash worth Rs 0.1 million and four cell phones.
Mudassir Mehmood, a resident of Asifabad, reported to Wah Saddar Police that four masked men equipped with weapons scaled the wall of his house and made the members of the house hostage at gun point and fled away with 2-tola gold, cash Rs 0.13 million and other valuables.
The affected people while talking to this reporter has said that on one hand, police were claiming to have increase patrolling and foolproof security arrangements but on the other hand there are growing incidents of armed robberies, dacoities and thefts.
As per official data, area witnessed alarmingly surge in crime rate. The domestic and commercial robberies, abduction, and snatching of vehicles drastically increased in the area and bloody dacoities is big question mark over police efficiency due to which masses feel insecure.
The official data reveals that during the last 6 months as many as 25 murders and 21 attempt to murder cases were reported. The abduction and kidnapping cases also witnessed surge as 29 male and female were abducted in the area during the last six months in the area. Four major robberies were reported in which armed bandits managed to take away cash and goods worth Rs 5,900,000. Some 28 robbery cases were reported in which the outlaws deprived residents of cash and other valuables. As many as 32 cars, 18 motorcycles and 4 other vehicles were stolen during last six months in the area.
