PAT holds rally against Model Town tragedy

LAHORE - Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) on Thursday took out a huge protest rally from Regal Chowk to Faisal Chowk at The Mall against the Model Town tragedy on completion of its one month.
The rally was participated by the workers and leaders of a number of others political parties including Pakistan Muslim League-Q, Sunni Ittehad Council, Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen and others.
The rally which was later turned in a public meeting was attended by thousands of men, women and children.
The enthusiastic participants of the rally were chanting slogans against PML-N government, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
They were also chanting in favour of their chief Dr Tahirul Qadri and his revolution plan. It was a big gathering by the PAT to press the government for its demands and registering FIR and setting up a judicial commission comprise of Supreme Courts judges for probing the incident.
The Model Town tragedy occurred on June 17 wherein more than a dozen people were killed by the police firing and about 100 sustained injuries.
On the occasion, the women protesters who were holding party flags and snaps of the killed PAT workers, beat the effigies of Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif and Rana Sanaullah.
They also burnt the effigies terming the trio as killers of the innocent people.
While addressing the participants, PAT president Dr Raheeq Abbasi said that it was first time in the history of Pakistan, the women were shot and killed by police.
He said cunning rulers were thinking that first they would kill PAT workers and later would blame the PAT also so it could be declared as terrorist organisation.
He said they were also thinking to demoralise and discourage the PAT workers by this attack.
“They don’t know that Allah Almighty is with the oppressed,” he said.
He further said that now the rulers real face had been unveiled.
He said they were trying to linger on the issue and took resignation from Dr Tauqeer Shah and Rana Sanaullah just to deceive the people.
He further said that one month had lapsed but the FIR on their complaint was not registered which were violation of law. He said that they had moved to the court for talking orders for registration of FIR but the government was harassing the judge.
He said after revolution justice would prevail. He said that they would take revenge and the revolution was their revenge.
The PAT workers are ready to occupy the assemblies on the call of Dr Tahirul Qadri who will come out to change the whole system.
Earlier, PML-Q leader Chaudhry Zaheer-ud-Din also spoke on the occasion.
