OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE As many as 16 murder accused, behind the bars for the past twelve years, were on Tuesday ordered released by an additional district and sessions judge after a patch-up between the rival parties. The rivalry took seven lives between 1999 and 2001. As per case glossary, the first case, FIR # 259/99, was registered against 11 persons, namely, former Member Provincial Assembly Abdul Rasheed, Jameel Asghar Bhatti, Malik Jameel, Rai Amir Haider, Anwer, Amir Ali, Shabir Fauji, Malik Shabbir, Ghulam Shabbir Bhatti, Malik Nisar Khokhar, and Malik Khalid, for killing four persons Malik Nisar, Munshi, Ghulam Rasool, and Mithu. As second case, FIR # 169/01, was registered against Malik Ashfaq, Farooq, Basharat, Hafiz Arif, and Amir Ali on the charges of killing three persons, including Kashif, Nawaz, and Rani Bibi. On Tuesday, the court released all the accused persons of the aforementioned murder cases when the rival clans entered into reconciliation while informing the court that they had forgiven each other. The case were registered with the Hanjarwal police.
