LAHORE (PR) - Rahnuma-FPAP is rights based organisation with a focus on the reproductive health and rights of all, as derived from the ICPD and MDGs. The geographic spread of the organisation is all over the country with 5 regional and 15 programme management offices including AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan. Child marriage is one of the most wide-spread human rights violations that exist in the country and it is reinforced by customs that commodify young girls. Girls from poor households are more likely to be married as children. The physical and emotional consequences of child marriages are multiple and severe, which range from high rates of female poverty leading to limited literacy and employment opportunities, exposure to unprotected sexual relations, pregnancy and child birth before being physically ready.
