LAHORE - The Opposition in Punjab Assembly on Friday walked out from the House in protest against what its leaders called Speaker's partial attitude towards them. After recitation from the Holy Quran, Opposition leader in Punjab Assembly Ch Zaheeruddin Ahmad wanted to speak on a point of order and Speaker Rana Iqbal gave him floor to express his mind. But treasury members interrupted his speech by raising slogans of 'Go Musharraf Go' and 'Musharraf ka jo yar hai Ghaddar hai ghaddar hai' (friend of Musharraf is traitor). He, however, continued his speech amid sloganeering. Zaheer asked the new CM if he was taking confidence vote to raise prices of flour and bread. The treasury members again interrupted him and blamed the PML-Q government for creating the crises of wheat, flour and sugar, etc. They refused to listen to him and started raising anti-Musharraf slogans yet again. Zaheer asked the Speaker to put the House in order, so that he could speak. But the Speaker failed to silence the furious members. PPP's parliamentary leader Raja Riaz also requested his party men to remain calm, but nobody listened to him. Upon this, the opposition members gathered near Speaker's chamber and accused him of showing partiality. They later walked out of the House to register their protest. Later, the Speaker asked Raja Riaz and Nadeem Kamran to bring the Opposition back into the House. They complied with Speaker's orders, but returned empty handed as they failed to woo the Opposition. Raja Riaz told the chair that they were not willing to come to the House in any case.
