LAHORE – Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Syed Munawar Hasan has condemned Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani’s statement that Pakistan would let the Kashmir dispute prove a roadblock in dealing with India, terming it deviation from Pakistan’s principled policy and stabbing the 65 years freedom struggle in the back.
Talking to different delegations at Mansoroa on Wednesday, he warned that if the rulers gave undue weight to India by deviating from the national stance, the nation would be heading towards another major tragedy.
Syed Munawar Hasan said that New Delhi had always wanted Islamabad to have free trade with India forgetting Kashmir and the PPP led government seemed to be fulfilling that desire unconditionally. India had been allowed a passage to Afghanistan by opening the Pakistan border under the cover of trade that would give India a free hand for carrying on its intrigues to destabilize the country from Afghanistan.
The government and also the friendly opposition, he said, were competing with each other to win New Delhi’s pleasure and extend every facility to India for the US pleasure. A political leader had already suggested withdrawing troops from Siachin, completely ignoring India’s intransigence and extremism. Earlier, the same leader had recommended opening the Pakistan border to India and doing away with visa restrictions.
President Zardari, he said, in his brief talk with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan during his recent India visit- reportedly private one- seemed to have given some assurances that had prompted Indian Premier to accept an offer to visit this country. Nevertheless, Manmohan Singh was still talking of Hafiz Muhammad Saeed and demanding action against him.
