LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif will not resign in the wake of the District Court decision for registration of murder case on the Minhajul Quran workers killing in Model Town police action against him among 21 accused persons nor on the demand of the PAT and the PTI.
A reliable source in the government says that no move or consideration is being given to the CM resignation either at the party or the government level as there is a strong belief that no charges of the CM’s involvement in the Model Town incident have been established and the demand of the protesting parties does not stand to reason as well.
The source said the resignation option can be taken into account if anything criminal comes out against the CM which was not there so far. Moreover, he said, given the current political situation, the resignation option does not suit the government.
