Majid Nizami is reflection of Pakistan: Shami

LAHORE - Editor-in-Chief The Nation Majid Nizami has said that education reforms personality of a human being without which a person has no value at all. He was addressing the 10th Orient Hameed Nizami Memorial Award ceremony organised by Orient Advertising (Pvt) at a local hotel on Monday. Majid Nizami said, '(late) S H Hashmi kept the name of his brother Hameed Nizami alive and I pray for the spiritual benefit of the former after offering every prayer. He said that he would have been a barrister if Hameed Nizami would have been alive by that time. He said that journalism is not an easy task and we have paid high price for independent journalism and kept the torch of truth high. Majid Nizami said the award ceremonies create a spirit among the youth to go forward. He also gave cash awards to the winners of Hameed Nizami Awards. Speaking on the occasion, Editor The Nation Arif Nizami congratulated Mehmood Hashmi who kept alive the name of his own father S H Hashmi and his father Hameed Nizami. Arif said that Mehmood Hashmi had also played an important role in the promotion of advertising profession. Orient, he said, was not only prominent but also distinctive in creating novelty in advertising, adding that S H Hashmi had created a balance between the print and electronic media. He expressed his hope that Orient will continue to support both. Arif Nizami said father Hameed Nizami had always wished that a journalist should be a well-informed person and should consider journalism as a mission. He said an award should be introduced in the name of S H Hashmi. APNS President Mujib-ur-Rehman Shami said that Nawa-i-Waqt and Orient are custodians of the Pakistan Movement. Majid Nizami is a reflection of Pakistan, he said. He further said that S H Hashmi maintained the ethical values in advertising and the message he could not convey through ads with women in Zias regime, was conveyed through children. He said the nation has to get rid of American hegemony by forging unity among them. Chief Executive of Orient Advertising, Mehmood Hashmi said that his father had introduced awards for the position holders of universities in Mass Communication ten years ago and this tradition is still alive and the youth gets inspiration from the two towering personalities of Hameed Niami and S H Hashmi. The students, Syeda Quratul Ain of Punjab University, Nadia Akhtar of LCWU, Abida Naureen of Islamia University Bahawalpur and Afifa Piracha aof Bahauddin Zakirya University won the awards.
