291 doctors seats lying vacant in City

LAHORE - Punjab Public Service Commission has not conducted regular appointments of doctors in the last 13 years and the health department also is not taking any tangle steps to end the miseries of the doctors community. Besides, the cases of promotions of senior doctors including associate and assistant professors, and medical officers are pending in the health department for the last 3 years, the office bearers of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) said in a press release issued on Saturday. Five public medical colleges of Lahore may face de-recognition by PMDC as 14 seats of professors, 62 seats of associate professors and 70 seats of assistant professors are lying vacant in these colleges and medical students and young doctors are suffering in the hope of regular jobs in the health department. YDA office bearers Dr Rana Sohaild, Dr Salman Kazmi, Dr Aslam Rao, Dr Rai Ahmed, Dr Talha Sherwani, Dr Marium, Dr Lala Rukh, Dr Fareeha said that in KEMU 5 seats of professors, 24 seats of associate professors and 15 seats of assistant professor, in SIMS 4 seats of professors, 8 seats of associate professors and 7 seats of assistant professor, in FJMC 3 seats of professors, 9 seats of associate professors and 13 seats of assistant professor, in PGMI 2 seats of professors, 6 seats of associate professors and 7 seats of assistant professor, AIMC 8 seats of associate professors and 6 seats of assistant professor, in PIC 1 seats of associate professors and 1 seats of assistant professor while in IPH 6 seats of associate professors and 7 seats of assistant professor and in children hospital 13 seats of assistant professor are lying vacant. Young Doctors have further added that despite vacant seats in Lahore, the new professors being appointed through PPSC are being sent to Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalpur and the process of promotions is also still pending. They have urged the chief minister to take immediate notice.
