Canal Flyover inauguration on March 23: Shahbaz


LAHORE- While announcing that the inauguration of the Canal Flyover will be held on March 23, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday directed DCO Ahad Cheema to identify a suitable piece of land for constructing a parking plaza on the Ferozepur Road.
The chief minister also inspected the under-construction Canal Flyover and issued directions to the concerned officers for its early completion. While directing to constitute a supervisory committee for ensuring completion of the flyover within the stipulated period, the chief minister said: “This committee will supervise the construction work regularly.”
The CM also directed chief traffic officer to ensure smooth flow of traffic so that the people should not face any difficulty during construction work on Ferozepur Road. Members Provincial Assembly Hafiz Mian Muhammad Nauman, Ijaz Ahmad, Commissioner Lahore, DG LDA, DCO Lahore and Brig. Shahid Majeed of NLC were also present on this occasion.
DG Parks & Horticulture Authority informed on this occasion that green areas would be developed alongside Canal Flyover. Earlier, Secretary Communication & Works Azam Suleman while giving a briefing to the Chief Minister informed that the work on the project of Canal Flyover is continuing round the clock. He said that this project will be a unique of its kind with regard to the quality construction.
Shahbaz further said that a network of roads, bridges, flyovers and underpasses was being laid so that best travelling facilities could be available to the masses.
 He said that transparency, quality construction and timely completion of development projects are the hallmark of Punjab government.
He said that Kalma Chowk Flyover was a masterpiece of architecture. “Similarly, people will get rid of traffic problems through the construction of the Canal Flyover and trade activities will increase on Ferozepur Road,” he added.
Meanwhile, the chief minister has expressed deep sense of grief and sorrow over the death of father of Syed Mubashar Hassan, Secretary Implementation. In a condolence message, the CM prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and strength to the members of the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.
