Addict dies in police custody

LAHORE - A 30-year-old addict died after he administered himself an injection of drug in Civil Lines Police Station here on Monday. The deceased identified as Shoaib alias Mithu was a resident of Mozang. Police claimed that he was involved in drug trafficking business and himself was an addict. He self-administered an intravenous drug, became unconscious, and died before receiving any medical treatment, a police officer said. The body was handed over to the heirs after necessary legal formalities. 9 of a family hurt in van-truck collision Nine people of a family sustained multiple wounds when a mazda van collided with a truck in Shahdara police precincts here on Monday. Police said that a family from Kot Abdul Malik was on its way to Lahore airport to receive some guests when their vehicle was hit by a speeding truck (AL-2915). Mehwish, Kulsoom, Razia, Ghulam Habib, Tariq, Ghulam Rasool and others sustained severe injures. They were rushed to a nearby hospital where their condition was told to be stable.
