LAHORE (APP) - Federal Minister for Environment and Women Development Samina Khalid Ghurki has acknowledged the contribution of women in different capacities to the national mainstream. She said its endeavour of the government to provide enabling environment to them through greater opportunities of training and education. She stated this during a briefing given by the officers of Ministry of Women Development here Saturday about various projects and working of the Ministry. Secretary Ministry of Women Development, Batool Iqbal Qureshi, DG Taimour, Senior Joint Secretary Nuzhet Fatima, DG Nighat and DS Umer Aziz were also present on the occasion. We could not achieve the goal of development without involving women in every spheres of life and government is trying its utmost to provide better opportunities, latest knowledge and skills so that they shoulder their responsibilities with greater pride, dignity and honour, she said. She also emphasized upon an awareness campaign in print and electronic media to educate women about their socio-economic and political rights. Samina advised the Secretary to continue the developmental projects on priority. Earlier, Secretary Batool Iqbal Qureshi told the Minister that Women Development Centres are being opened in different areas of the country where counselling on various aspects and issues was being given. Batool cited that on the instructions of the Prime Minister some 30 new Women Development Centres would be started in a years time.She added that the ministry aims to develop two working women hostels in Islamabad.
