Completion of 5-year term by elected parliament a big achievement: Nawaz

President of Muslim League (N) Nawaz Sharif has said that completion of five-year constitutional tenure by duly elected parliament is a big achievement of democratic system.
Talking to media in Lahore after a high level party meeting on Wednesday‚ the PML-N chief said it is for the first time in country's history that a government elected by the people is departing while the new one will come into power through same democratic process.
Nawaz said that PML (N) spent five years in opposition with patience for strengthening democracy in the country. He said that PML (N) as opposition‚ showed the way of prosperity and development to the government. He said that we showed commitment to solve country's problems with cooperation with the government.
He said that all problems and challenges currently being faced by the country are the product of dictatorships. He said martial law is no way to resolve the problems but it is democracy which provides ultimate solution to the problems of the people and the country. He said in past‚ conspiracies were hatched against the democracy.
Nawaz Sharif hoped that issue of nominating caretaker prime minister will be resolved through constitutional and democratic process.
He said we will not tolerate any attempt to rig the elections and will opt all options to ensure free and fair elections.
Nawaz Sharif said that MQM parted ways with the government only a few days before the end of the government’s terms.
He said that PML-N received thousands of applications for awarding of tickets for the next general elections. He announced that a convention will be held in Lahore on March 22 for aspirants of party tickets.
Pakistan cannot afford rigging in the election, he said. The former two-time premier also welcomed Raheela Magsi into his party.
He alleged, “bargaining was made in dissolution of Sindh and Balochistan assemblies, added that, the bargain is against of the 20th Constitutional amendment. No one will be allowed to detract the forthcoming polls.”
