Prominent icon Yousuf Khan passes away

Veteran actor Yousuf Khan, one of the most respected figures in Pakistans film industry, died of cardiac arrest in this eastern city today. He was 80. Khan was admitted to Shaikh Zayed Hospital here after he complained of chest pain. Doctors later announced that he had died of a heart attack. He will be buried in his hometown of Kasur. Khan was one of the most respected figures in the film industry here and people in show business termed his death a great loss. He was a good human being and a fantastic performer, said Reema Khan, a well known actress-cum-director of Lollywood. Khans film career spanned over five decades during which he worked in over 400 movies in the Urdu, Pashto and Punjabi languages. His first film Parwaz was released in 1954. He mostly played character roles till he got a break as a leading man in the Urdu film Ziddi in 1973. There was no looking back and he became a superstar Punjabi hero in the 1970s.
