Reply sought from spy agency chief

LAHORE - The Lahore High Court Monday heard a petition against the alleged abduction of Dr Ali Abdullah of Jinnah Hospital and directed the Deputy Attorney General to get comments from the ISI chief on stories published in an English newspaper about the incident and do not stand contradicted. Justice Chaudhry Iftikhar Hussain directed the DAG Naveed Inayat Malik to submit the comments on behalf of the top secret agency chief by second week of January. The judge also directed the heads of two investigating teams to appear on the next hearing and apprise about the progress, if any, in the case. Dr Sarfraz, father of Ali Abdullah, filed the petition alleging that his son has been missing for the last five months. He alleged that personnel of secret agencies abducted him when he was on his way to home from the hospital. He requested the court to issue directions for federal and provincial government to get his son recovered and produce him before the court. In this case, defence and interior ministries had already informed the court that agencies working under their domain had no knowledge about the whereabouts of the doctor.
