Campaign against dengue launched


LAHORE - Punjab Cooperative Secretary Khalid Masud Chaudhry has said that the Cooperative Department has started a vigorous campaign for eradication of dengue from all cooperative housing societies.
He said workshops had been held for training of the staff. He said the process of carrying out fogging in cooperative societies had been completed. He said a mechanism had been evolved for monitoring of campaign against dengue throughout the province.
He expressed these views while addressing a press conference in Public Relations Department Punjab on Monday. Member Provincial Assembly Mian Naseer Ahmad was also present on this occasion.
The Secretary Cooperative said an annual work plan had been evolved in connection with campaign against dengue. He said all cooperative housing societies in Punjab had started awareness campaign and banners and flexes had been displayed in this regard.
“A programme is being chalked out in collaboration with city district government for carrying out campaign in 45 thousand houses of cooperative housing societies in Lahore,” he added. He said an action plan 2012 had been evolved for larvaeciding in graveyards, ponds, fountains and other places in the cooperative housing societies.
Khalid said focal persons had been appointed at provincial and district levels for creating awareness among the members of the cooperative housing societies. He asked the members of cooperative housing societies to take active part in the campaign against dengue under self-help basis. "A control room has also been set up in the office of district officer cooperative," he added.
