LAHORE – Following the federal Cabinet’s decision, the Punjab government has also announced a holiday in the province on Friday (today) to register its protest against the blasphemous movie and a notification in this regard was issued on Thursday.
All offices at the Civil Secretariat, educational institutions and banks will remain closed on Friday (today). The federal Cabinet declared Friday (today) as a public holiday to register its protest against the blasphemous movie that has caused an outrage in the Muslim countries, including Pakistan.
The purpose of the holiday is to pay honour and reverence to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). Now the federal and the provincial governments will join the people in their peaceful protests against the blasphemous movie.
Also, the Punjab government, on the directive of the chief minister, has announced to observe September 23 (Sunday) as the Anti-Dengue Day throughout the province. All government institutions will remain open and take part in the campaign.
