South Asian Labour Conference today

LAHORE: Working Women Organization (WWO) and Pakistan Workers Confederation (PWC) are jointly organizing a consultation on “South Asian Labour Conference-- Labour Policy and Women Workers” at Ambassador Hotel on Tuesday (today).
Labour union leaders and members of the civil society are attending the consolation which ahead of South Asia Labour Conference will provide them an opportunity to put forward suggestions for the betterment of working women in Pakistan as well as in the region. 
WWO Executive Director  and PWC General Secretary Aima Mahmood stated on Monday that there was urgent need to organize a consultation with trade unions and workers organizations representatives to plays effective role to make government institutes aware about workers specially women workers issues and utilizes this activity as a advocacy tool.
“Main objective of the consultation are to over view of Labour Conference agenda and Labour Policy, sharing of women workers issues and demands with trade unions and utilize South Asian Labour conference to formulate strategies for joint actions in the region,” added Aima.–Staff Reporter
