Apca, ACE standoff deepens

LAHORE - Cold War between Punjab Anti-Corruption director general and All Pakistan Clerks Association (Apca) has deepened due to which working of the department is suffering, said an officer on Monday.
The official of anti-corruption department told this scribe on the condition of anonymity that differences started when the administration transferred some clerical staff which was resisted by office bearers of Apca’s anti-corruption unit.
The DG was of the view that the union must stick to its real objective of employees’ welfare instead of interfering in the administrative affairs of the department.
But Apca unit office bearers said that transfers were being made only to screw the staff and their colleagues were unnecessarily being sent on hard postings at stations like DG Khan and Rahim Yar Khan which would put whole family of a staffer to suffering.
Due to transfer, schooling of children and lodging of the family is disturbed, said an Apca office bearer. He said ACE DG, in the latest strike, has transferred their colleague Ghulam Mustafa, an office superintendent, to Rahim Yar Khan. A couple of weeks back about 15 officials were transferred to distant areas.
In protest the clerical staff has gone on pen down strike for the last many days but the DG is unmoved. Visitors of Anti Corruption Lahore Region were facing problems since all the department is paralyzed and people coming from Kasur, Sheikhupura and far flung areas have to go back disappointed.
