LAHORE - Deputy convener coordination committee MQM Dr Farooq Sattar has proposed that Punjab government should seek the assistance of federal government for providing security to the public moot of MQM instead of turning down Muttahidas request to hold its meeting at Minar-e-Pakistan under the pretext of security reasons. He expressed these views while talking to the media on Monday at Allam Iqbal International Airport on his arrival at the provincial metropolis to attend a party meeting of Punjab chapter. He said MQM would insist on Punjab govt to give them permission to hold the moot at the venue of their choice and they were ready to assist the provincial government for chalking out a foolproof security plan to hold MQMs public meeting at Minar-e-Pakistan on April 10. Dr Farooq said his party despite some reservations would attend the joint session of the parliament to be addressed by President Asif Ali Zardari today (Tuesday). Regarding increased incidents of target killing in Karachi, he said only MQM has formula to maintain law and order in Karachi. He claimed that during the MQM regime not even a single incident of target killing occurred and Karachi was considered a peaceful city. He stressed upon the government to step-in to stop the ongoing violence in the port city of Sindh.
