Against privatisation

LAHORE - Hundreds of employees of Water and Sanitation Agency staged a demonstration in front of Lahore Press Club on Wednesday against the privatisation.
About two hundred protestors, carrying placards and banners were chanting slogans against the government and Wasa administration. They also raised the demand for for regularization of contractual employees. They were demanding the provincial government end the privatization of sanitation agency.
Meanwhile, the newly-posted Wasa Managing Director Ch Naseer Ahmad, after assuming his charge in a meeting of officers of Wasa, announced that no employee would be expelled or fired from the department while a summery for the regularization of the contractual employees would soon be sent to the Punjab CM.
Directives
District Coordination Officer Ahmad Javed Qazi has issued directives to Ammunition Branch of City district Government to check record of about 150 dealers of arms in the city.
The DCO further directed the concerned branch to check the stocktaking, sale and purchase and stocked arms in their shops. Following the directions, an inspection team of CDGL checked a number of arm dealers’ shops on Wednesday and during checking the inspection team recovered arms of banned bores from Hassan Arms dealer Raiwind, Taj Din arms dealer Raiwind, Younas Arms dealer Manga Mandi, and Afridi Arms dealer. The DCO said in this regard that cases have been lodged against such arm dealers and the banned bored guns have been handed over the police.
