At the close of first days play in the four day 7th round match of the championship Karachi Whites had posted impressive 314 for seven after Naveed Khan had scored 86 and Atif Ali Zaidi and Afsar Nawaz contributed 55 and 59 runs respectively. Earlier in the day when SNGPL skipper Azher Shafique decided to invite the opponents to bat after winning the toss, his decision looked correct when Karachi Whites lost two quick wickets for just 17 runs. Pacer Asad Ali struck two quick blows by removing opener Mohtashim Ali for two and has one down Murtaza Majeed caught for a duck. However Naveed Khan and Atif Ali Zaidi repaired the damage by putting up 153 for the third wicket partnership which boosted the home teams total. The partnership ended with the dismissal of Naveed khan who hit twelve fours in his 169 ball innings. Atif Ali Zaidi also left shortly afterwards scoring 55 in 120 balls hitting eight fours. Later Afsar Nawaz and Muhammad Hasan (47) added 86 runs for the 6th wicket stand to further boost teams total. Afsar Nawaz left after scoring 59 in 102 balls hitting seven fours.
