LAHORE - The PTI Insaaf Action Forum staged a protest in front of Lahore Press Club on Monday against the Punjab government for its failure in nabbing culprits in Sumbal rape case.
The protesters, including Ejaz Ch, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Andleeb Abbas and Mehnaz Rafi, demanded Punjab government bring the beast to book. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Yasmeen Rashid rued that it was shameful that despite almost 39 days had passed but the culprits of Sumbal case had not been arrested. She said the violence against women and children was on the rise but the Punjab government was giving lip service.
She said that the PTI handed over data of rape cases to the media ten days ago, highlighting how the “virus of gang rape is spreading due to no treatment given by the Punjab government”.
She said in that press conference PTI had warned the government that if within 10 days government does not take any action, PTI would come out to the streets.
Ejaz Chaudhary called for rule of law, saying that it was the responsibility of the government to give punishment to the criminals.
Andleeb Abbas, MNA Munazza Hassan, MPA’s Nosheen Hamid Meraj, Shanila Rout, Aliya Hamza Malik, Sobia Kamal, Sadia saif, Dr. Seemi Bukhari, Neelam Ashraf, Ayesha Zaheer, Ishtiaq Malik, Naseem Akbar and other were also among the protesters.
