FIR lodged against Imran Khan, others

Lahore: An FIR was lodged against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders including its Chairman Imran Khan, Jamaat-e-Islami chief Munawar Hasan, Awami Muslim League President Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad, Javed Hashmi, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and around 2,000 other workers for violation of Section 144 of the Pakistan Penal Code on Sunday. Station House Officer Old Anarkali Police Station Inspector Atif Mehraj registered FIR against PTI, JI and AML leaders and workers over the violation of Section 144 of the Pakistan Penal Code. SHO Atif Mehraj said they registered FIR against them for violation of Section 144 of the PPC which was maintained by Lahore High Court on an application seeking ban on rallies at The Mall. However, no section was included in the FIR for violation of the court’s orders. Responding to a question if Punjab government had asked him to register FIR against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and other leaders, he said he did not register FIR on the directions of Punjab government, but he registered FIR on his own against the violation of Section 144 imposed in the specific area of the city. –Staff ReporterOn the other hand, at least 700 constables were deputed for the security of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s rally against price hike and inflation at The Mall on Sunday. The security officers seen alert on all major buildings around The Mall and all roads leading to Punjab Assembly had been blocked by barriers and wires to avert any possible attack and danger by the terrorists. The party workers took part in the main rally after facing many hurdles on their way.
