GCU constitutes media watch society

LAHORE - The Government College University on Friday constituted the Media Watch Society to groom the Ravians in the art of information dissemination and critical news analysis. Established at the university level, this society will enable the students to have hands-on experience of the latest working of leading newspapers and television channels. The Media Watch Society will also organise conferences, debates, seminars, training workshops and invited lectures by renowned opinion makers. It will also generate internship opportunities for the GCU students by creating linkages between well-established media houses and the GC University. GCU Societies Board Chairman Prof Mirza Ather Baig said that the establishment of Media Watch Society would enrich the scope of co-curricular activities and would provide a platform to students to interact with professional journalists. He said that it would also pave way for the reflection the rich academic and cultural life of the university in print and electronic media.GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Ikramul Haq said that GCU rightly boasts of its diverse cultural milieu which is off-shoot of more than 44 societies and clubs jointly run by the students and the staff advisors.
