LAHORE - Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Munawar Hasan has condemned the repeated incidents of desecration of the mosques and the Holy Quran by the Indian army in Held Kashmir.
In a statement issued on Monday, he said India was using brute force to crush the freedom movement of the Kashmiris.
He said the human rights in Kashmir were being grossly violated and they were not even safe in mosques, but the world community and the United Nations were maintaining a criminal silence.
He said while the Kashmiris were fighting Pakistan’s war and were not ready to give up their demands for right to self determination, the Pakistani rulers were stabbing them in the back by accepting India’s supremacy and promoting trade with it.  That’s why Islamabad is not raising its voice against Indian atrocities on the Kashmiris, he said. He further said that this was violation of the public mandate because the nation fully supported the Kashmiris struggle for freedom.
Munawar stressed upon the government to discharge its responsibility towards ensuring the right to self determination for the Kashmiris. He said that ever since the new rulers came to power, they were showing total indifference on the issue while on the other hand they were anxious to improve bilateral ties with India through backdoor diplomacy.
The JI Ameer also condemned the bombing at the shrine of Hazrat Zainab in Syria. He said that Islam taught respect for the shrines of the Sahaba and all the Muslims, and no Muslim could think of desecrating these. He said the Syrian army was indulging in such activities to provoke the Syrian masses as a mean to divide the Syrian nation which presently stood united against the government of Basharaul Asad.
Munawar appealed to all the schools of thought in Syria to stand united against the tyrant ruler and to foil all enemy designs.
Meanwhile, Federal Railways Minister Khwaja Saad Rafique called on JI Secretary General Liaqat Baloch at his residence here on Monday and sought the support of the JI assembly members for the PML-N’s presidential candidate. 
Baloch apprised the federal minister of the JI concern over the deepening energy crisis, the rising prices and lawlessness and insecurity of the life and property of the people which had added to the problems of the people.
He also conveyed to the minister the nation’s sentiments over the government anxiety to befriend India at the cost of Kashmir. Baloch also disapproved the government’s reaction over the convictions of senior JI leaders in Bangladesh, terming it an internal affair of that country. Saad Rafiq told the JI Secretary General that he would convey the JI sentiments to the PML-N leadership.
