LAHORE - Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Khurram Gulfam passed away at the Services Hospital in Lahore on Tuesday after remaining on ventilator for two weeks following an operation for the removal of tumour in his rear side of the neck.
The deceased was laid to rest at a graveyard in Sheikhupura’s Narang Mandi area in the afternoon the same day. Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, a number of lawmakers, notables of the area and people from different walks of life attended his Nimaze Jinaza.
Khurram Gulfam was admitted to Services Hospital and was operated upon on July 9 for the removal of a gland (tumour) on the back side of his neck. Three hours after the operation,
Gulfam had a paralysis attack. He went into coma and never regained consciousness as the medical board set up to examine his condition, found his brain dead. After passing two weeks under medical treatment and observation on ventilation he died on Tuesday.
Khurram Gulfam was born in 1979 in Sheikhpura and twice elected as member of the Punjab Assembly from PP-162, Muridke, Sheikhpura.
The deceased who primarily belonged to an agricultural class, was a lawyer by profession. The deceased is survived by a widow, two daughters and a son.
Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed his deep sense of grief and sorrow over the demise of Gulfam.
He said the deceased was an efficient and young lawmaker whose services to the party and the government would be long remembered. The chief minister, during his stay at the native town of the deceased, condoled his death with the relatives of Gulfam and offered Fateha.
