LAHORE - The Pakistan People’s Party has distanced itself from Deputy Speaker Sindh Assembly Shehla Raza’s remarks who claimed that under one of the provisions of NRO, it had been agreed among the stakeholders that Martial Law would not be imposed in Pakistan for at least 15 years
Shehla, who belongs to the PPP, also said in a TV talk show on Tuesday night that US and the Pakistani establishment were the guarantors that democratic set up would not be disturbed for 15 years.
President Zardari’s spokesperson, Senator Farhatullah Babar, however, rejected her remarks describing them as totally misplaced and misleading.
Talking to The Nation, Babar clarified that her statement was contrary to facts and in no way reflected the party’s viewpoint.
The party has also taken notice of the totally misleading remarks of Shehla Raza, he said.
