LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that upcoming general elections are for saving and rebuilding the country which has been pushed back by 50 years during the five-year rule by PPP.
The chief minister expressed these views while talking to party leader from Balochistan Lashkari Raisani who called on him at Model Town on Friday.
Shahbaz said the PPP government had destroyed the institutions, plundered the national wealth and exhibited abject inefficiency for which the people would hold this party accountability on May 11.
“Eighteen-hour long loadshedding is rampant in the country, people’s lives have become miserable, economy has been destroyed, industrial sector is log-jammed, while the corrupt rulers have embezzled billions of rupees while on their way out,” the CM held.
Shahbaz said the the Punjab government had honestly served the people during the last five years while its public service record was before the people, who would give their verdict in general elections.
“We have served the 10 crore people of Punjab province, despite difficulties and opposition by former federal government. The Punjab government has completed record development projects,” he opined.
Shahbaz said situation in Balochistan was a matter of concern for the patriotic circles, and there was a need to heal the wounds of Balochistan. He said we have submitted names of respectable and honest personalities for caretaker setup in Punjab, while the names given by the opposition are not acceptable.
He said Zardari gang has pushed the country into darkness and despondency during the last five years, due to which Peoples Party would be politically finished in forthcoming general elections.
Raisani said that people of Balochistan have great expectations from the PML-N, and as Punjab has achieved unprecedented progress, under inspiring leadership of Shahbaz Sharif, PML-N would also establish new examples of service and prosperity in Balochistan.
Dr Ramesh Kumar was also present on the occasion. During the meeting political situation of the country, Balochistan scenario and forthcoming general elections came under discussion. Also, the chief minister said the Punjab government completed development programmes, worth Rs 481 billions, throughout the province during the last five years.
He was talking to party leaders and workers belonging to Faisalabad at Central Secretariat Model Town. He said all development projects of Punjab government speak volumes about quality, transparency and speed.
He said the Punjab government had completed its five years tenure with honesty, dedication and public service, during which the cooperation of leaders and workers of PML-N remained highly laudable.
Chaudhary Sher Ali, Abid Sher Ali, Chaudhary Sarwar, Saira Afzal Tarar, Ghulam Dastagir Khan, Begum Ishrat Ashraf, Rana Sanaullah Khan, Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, President of PML-N Faisalabad Mian Qasam Farooq and other leaders were present on the occasion.
Shahbaz said transparency and merit was the hallmark of Punjab government, which had voluntarily asked Transparency International Pakistan to check its three big projects including metro bus, ujala programme and laptop scheme.
The chief minister said the PML-N had submitted the names of honest and best personalities with regard to caretaker setup in Punjab, upon which the whole nation was unanimous, however the names submitted by the PPP were unacceptable.
Shahbaz said the PML-N would field best candidates in the upcoming general elections, who would also take oath that they fulfill all stipulated conditions laid down by the Election Commission.
