Zubair elected

LAHORE Central Consultative Body of Jmiat Ulema-e-Pakistan on Sunday reelected Muhammad Zubair as party president. Over 300 members took part in the process that also elected Sahibzada Awais Noorani as senior vice-president and Qari Zawwar Bahadur as general secretary. Pir Ijaz Hashmi was elected as chairman of the Supreme Council. Addressing a press conference after the election process here at the JUP office, the newly elected office-bearers said the rulers have failed on all fronts and the country was reduced to the status of a US colony. They alleged that the government had failed to curb lawlessness, forced extortions, target killings and price hike. The party would approach other political forces to launch a countrywide campaign against the rulers if they did not step down, the newly elected office bearers said.
