Missing woman found  dead in Lahore

LAHORE - Unidentified men abducted a 45-year-old woman, pumped bullets into her body, and fled after throwing her on a deserted road in Hanjarwal, police said Thursday.
Munawar Bibi was rushed to a hospital in serious condition where she was pronounced as brought dead. Police have registered a murder case against unidentified killers on the complaint of her husband and are investigating with no arrest made yet.
The complainant, Labha Khan, told the police that his wife left the house on early Thursday to attend a religious event but did not return.
Some passersby spotted the woman with bullet injuries on a deserted road near Ravi River and contacted the police by phone. The body was removed to the morgue for autopsy.
PO killed during ‘special mission’
A most-wanted proclaimed offender (PO) was killed during an armed encounter with Faisalabad police in Rahim Yar Khan district on Thursday. The Punjab government had fixed Rs200,000 head-money on the arrest, alive or dead, of the hardened criminal, a police spokesperson said.
The alleged criminal identified as Aslam Jora, a resident of Chack No 264/RB district Faisalabad, was wanted to the police in several cases of multiple killings, armed robberies, terrorism and extortion.
The proclaimed offender also included in the list of Top-Ten criminals had become a symbol of terror in district Faisalabad and Rahim Yar Khan.
Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khan Baig had ordered the police to step up crackdown against the most-wanted criminals across the province.
According to officials, a police team headed by Inspector Farrakh Waheed was sent on special mission in Rahim Yar Khan.
As the Faisalabad district police raided a hideout in the limits of airport police station in Rahim Yar Khan on early Thursday, the accused opened fire on the police vehicles with automatic weapons.
The police also retaliated. When the fire was stopped, Aslam Jora was found shot dead while the police also recovered one AK-47 and several bullets from the crime scene.
According to a statement issued from the central police office, the name of the proclaimed offender was included in the “Black Book” prepared by the Interior Ministry. He was behind the rocket launcher attack in which a jail superintendent was targeted. Akram Jora and Khan, alias Khani, brothers of the alleged criminal, had also been killed during shootout with the police in the past.
Provincial police chief, Khan Baig, has directed the field officers to step up the campaign against top-ten criminals to downgrade crimes rate in the province.
Meanwhile, the IGP lauded the efforts of City Police Officer (CPO) Faisalabad Dr Haider Ashraf and his team for aggressively chasing the hardened criminals.
