Attack for power

LAHORE - Protest against unscheduled loadshedding took violent turn on Wednesday when an angry mob attacked Lesco office. A group of hundreds people of Batapur area of Lahore marched towards Lesco office and started ransacking.
During ransacking, office record and other valuables were damaged and some were completely destroyed.
Lesco officials offered resistance initially but later fled. Heavy contingent of the police, followed by the Rescue 1122 and Edhi officials, rushed to the spot when the officials informed them. Police took positions in and around the office to stop the mob from further violence. Police also took into custody some protestors when they tried to ransack the office.
The mob later moved to GT Road and blocked the main high way for several hours.
Protesters say they were suffering because of the loadshedding as power cut during Sehr and Iftar. Other protest demonstrations were held in Badain Road and Bhaatta Chowk Area where the angry people blocked the road and jammed the traffic for hours.
Load shedding is continued for 12 to 14 hours at city feeders while there is 16 hours average shutdown in rural limits of the company. The National Grid is facing more than 50 per cent gap between demand and supply. The load shedding situation is even worst in the limits of other power distribution companies of the country.
