LAHORE On the call of Pakistan Bar Council, the Lahore High Court Bar Association and Punjab Bar Council, lawyers on Monday observed protest boycott against the killing of their two colleagues in Karachi on Saturday last. Lawyers at the lower and the upper level made thin appearance in the court mostly to obtain adjournment. Reports received here from other cities told that lawyers observed boycott of courts and held protest meetings at some places to condemn the killings of lawyers in Karachi. LHCBA President Asghar Ali Gill has said that law and order situation in the country was alarming and it appeared that the government had totally failed to control the situation. He said in Karachi people were being targeted in order to create chaos and unrest in the country as effect of any tragedy from this city, reached everywhere in the country. He said the state functionaries needed to improve their efficiency to check killings and crime in the country as their growing rate was keeping the people unnerved and on edge. The Bar president had demanded of the authorities to review their law and order strategy to make it foolproof against nefarious acts of the criminals. He also called for the arrest of the killers and awarding them exemplary punishment. He expressed complete solidarity with the Karachi lawyers on behalf of his Bar.
