LAHORE - The PML-N and JI have put their heads together to firm up joint strategy for the long march and sit-in on March 16. Jamat-e-Islami vice president Liaqat Bloach and JI president (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir) called on PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif at his residence in Raiwind here on Tuesday and discussed about the arrangements and line of action regarding both the events A consultative meeting that lasted for one and half hour took up pre and post effects of the lawyers' movement likely to reach its culmination in March. During the meeting, Nawaz Sharif and Liaqat Blaoch agreed to ensure overwhelming participation in the mega show. They also demanded the government to restore the deposed judges including Iftikhar Ch before the launch of long march and sit-in, saying the government still had a chance to avoid showdown by honouring its promise to restore the judges before it was too late. The JI vice president assured Nawaz Sharif that the party would oppose the Supreme Court's verdict leading to disqualification of Sharif brothers. On the occasion, PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif said that restoration of the sacked judiciary was equally vital like Malakand agreement to save the country "If the government could sign an accord with the TNSM for the implementation of justice-based system then why it could not reinstate judges who were sacked on Nov 2, 2007 to ensure an independent judiciary in the country?" he posed a query. He said the present crisis in the country could be worse than that of Swat if the judiciary was not reinstated. He reiterated that the PML-N was part of the movement for the cause of an independent judiciary from day one and would not move back from its principled stand. Nawaz also came hard on the government for giving indemnity to Musharraf who, he said, was responsible for the current crises the country was confronting. He said Musharraf had patronised corruption mafia for eight years but resigned under a deal with the present government whereas he should have been impeached and held accountable for his deeds. Besides PML-N president (Sindh) Ghos Ali Shah, Imdar Chandiyo, Allah Buksh Magsi, Noor Khan Nasir called on Nawaz Sharif and discussed with him different issues including reorganisation and party's preparation for the long march. Nawaz Shairf assured the delegation that he would visit Sindh soon. Later on, Bangladesh High Commissioner Yasmeen Murshad also met with Nawaz Sharif and deliberated about Pak-Bangladesh relations, current situation of the region and war on terror. Both agreed on forming joint strategy to counter terrorism.
