Wet weather continues

LAHORE - Parts of the country received showers of varying intensities on Wednesday, providing much needed relief from muggy weather.
Experts have predicted more rains with intervals during the next couple of days.
Rain-thundershower occurred at scattered places of Islamabad, Upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha divisions) and at isolated places of Hazara, Bannu, Sahiwal divisions and Kashmir.
Scattered showers, overcast and windy conditions caused decrease in the temperature during the day and nighttime, reducing the intensity of sultry weather. The relief, however, was short lived as increase in temperature after the stoppage of rains and high humidity again turned the weather muggy, causing people in plains to sweat profusely.
The rains disturbed normal routine life in major cities as the rainwater inundated portions of roads not only in low-lying areas but also in several posh localities. Inundated rainwater and slippery conditions of roads caused massive traffic jams in urban areas.
In Lahore, the rains added to the woes of motorists and pedestrians. Massive traffic jams were witnessed at major City roads due to inundation of rainwater and slippery conditions. Several incidents of skidding of motorcycles were also reported from various parts of the City.
On, Wednesday, maximum and minimum temperature in the City was recorded 33 degree Celsius and 27 C respectively. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded 78 percent.
Monsoon currents from Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are reaching into central and upper parts of the country.
