Chemists’ reunion at GCU

LAHORE  - The Annual Alumni Reunion of Government College University, Lahore Chemistry Department has held at the university’s Bukhari Lawns under the auspices of Ravian Forensic Society. GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khaleeq-ur-Rahman was the chief guest, while Punjab Forensic Science Agency Director General Dr Mohammad Ashraf Tahir, GCU Dean Prof Dr Islam Ullah Khan and Registrar Dr Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, the VC said that the Chemistry Department had been a hub of research activities since its inception in 1896.
The VC gave way certificates of appreciation to Registrar Muhammad Akhyar Farrukh and other teachers for their achievements in the field of research.
Dr Akhyar Farrukh, despite his administrative duties, has also got an international patent to his credit.
Prof Rahman said that modern research had grown complex and multidisciplinary and it was not possible for a single research institution or university or department to possess all the knowledge, equipment, and techniques required.
Therefore, he laid a stress on universities to establish academic and research links with each other and share resources, expertise and equipment with each other.
He said that GCU had opened its all research facilities for all students and researchers of Pakistan.
