LAHORE - Punjab University Department of Punjabi organised International Punjabi Mushaira in the Sherani Hall of Oriental College. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran presided over while Chairman Department Dr Asmatullah Zahid, renowned poets including Prof Anwar Masud, Saleem Kashir, Dr Kh M Zakriya, Dr Vanita, Dr Inam-ul-Haq Javed, Ikram Majid, Dr Younas Ahqar, Prof Riaz Ahmad Shad, Qaim Naqvi, Akram Bajwa, Bushra Ijaz, Akram Sheikh, Tajammal Kalim, Khaqan Haidar Ghazi, Saif Bhatti, Nasrin Akhtar, Sana Tariq, Nasrn Anjum Bhatti, Zahid Nawaz, Tufail Khalish, Majid Khawar Mailsi, Ali Asghar Abbas, Ramzan Shakir, Imran Naqvi, Kaliyan Singh Kaliyan, Inam-ur-Rehman and Sehar Javed presented their verses on the occasion. The VC speaking on the occasion, congratulated Dr Asmatullah Zahid and his team on organising successful international conference and mushaira. He said it would help promote Punjabi language. Software developed: Punjab University College of Information Technology (PUCIT) faculty members and Image Processing Researchers have developed cutting-edge software, which can be used to remove different types of bars and fences from images/pictures. The team of researchers including Lecturers M Shahid Farid and M Hassan Khan is working under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr Arif Mahmood. This image de-fencing software has outperformed existing fence removal software by significant margins. The team has also worked on a novel image in-painting algorithm that can be used for the removal of unwanted objects, such as scratches, from digital images. This software is being used as a component in the fence removal software. Shahid Farid and Dr Arif Mahmood have also worked on the Frequency Domain Image Morphing software. This software can be used to mix two images and generate a set of images containing contents from both of the original images.
