LAHORE - PPP central Punjab president Mian Manzoor Wattoo has disowned the statement of Raja Riaz who demanded the PTI chief to remove sitting Punjab Opposition Leader Mian Mehmoodur Rashid because of his alleged connections with the Sharifs.
Addressing a news conference at the Press Club here on Thursday, Raja Riaz alleged that after the elevation of Rashid’s brother at a key position in LDA, it had become crystal clear that ‘Muk Muka’ (underhand deal) had been settled between the PTI and PML-N. He demanded Imran Khan to nominate any other lawmaker as the opposition leader to dispel the impression that the PTI chief was not a part of the deal. Raja also alleged that the opposition leader was not ready to speak in the Assembly on the issues being faced by the people. Reacting to the statement, Wattoo termed it a personal opinion of Raja Riaz. He said that it was not the party policy to change the Punjab opposition leader.
He also mentioned Mehmoodur Rashid in good words, saying he was a gentleman.
Asked if there was any difference of opinion in the party on this issue, Manzoor said there was no such thing within the PPP.
Meanwhile, Mehmoodur Rashid has rejected the allegation of “Muk Muka’, alleging that it was the trait of the PPP. He said it could be a reaction of the PTI’s move in the National Assembly to change opposition leader Khursheed Shah. He said the PTI had already announced to launch a protest movement against price hike from November 1.
