LAHORE - A strategy has been evolved to establish separate women desks at police station level in the Punjab province to provide comfortable environment to the aggrieved women.
Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khan Baig stated this during his meeting with four-member women parliamentary caucus at the central police office on Tuesday.
A police spokesperson said that the IGP also nominated a women ASP as focal person to keep close liaison with the caucus across the Punjab.
The visiting members included Uzma Bokhari MPA PML-N (Convener), Dr Nosheen PTI (Treasure), Hina Butt (General Secretary), and Perveen Atta Manika (Member).
Uzma Bokhari told the police chief that the first ever parliamentary caucus was established and all lady MPAs are its members. The caucus nominated all women MPAs as their focal person in their respective districts. Similarly, these focal persons will be responsible to assist the women, who need the police or legal cover in case of any problem.
