Nation urged to unite against US

OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE Appreciating religious, politico-religious parties and leadership of minorities for participation in Defa-e-Pakistan Conference, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Sami) Chief and Chairman Defa-e-Pakistan Council Maulana Samiul Haq has said that absence of big parties has shown their real faces to the masses. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, he said that the purpose of holding conference was to bring all representatives forces on one platform for the sole purpose of defending the country. Abdul Rauf Farooqi, Ajmal Qadri, Yousaf Shah, Shah Abdul Aziz, Makhdoom Manzoor, Zaheer Babar and Asim Makhdoom were also present. Samiul Haq said that the US was hurling threats to the country but the rulers were not acting in accordance with the public aspirations. We want to unite the nation to face internal and external challenges. Big parties have not participated in the conference which showed their priorities. We still hope that these parties would respect public aspirations and come on platform of Defa-e-Pakistan Council, he said, adding, the US wanted to leave war on Pakistani soil after facing defeat in Afghanistan. He urged the rulers to come out of the US alliance in the so called war on terror in the best national interest.
